One of the city's big draws: a guided walk through the heart of the Yacyretá dam, passing the navigation lock and the Aña Cuá arm works, with a panoramic view of the island's dunes and lagoons. Visits are scheduled in advance through the Visitor Reception Center.
The starting point for visiting the dam: this is where guided tours of the Yacyretá Hydroelectric Dam and the other EBY-run sites get booked.
10 km from the city entrance, a wildlife refuge home to mammals, birds and reptiles native to the area around the Yacyretá dam — an easy stop to see the local fauna up close.
A sea of sand covered in vegetation, spanning some 500 hectares, where birds, mammals and reptiles share the dunes. One of the landscapes that surprises first-time visitors to Ayolas the most.
12 km from downtown, on the banks of the Paraná: one of the most visited beaches in the whole Misiones department. There's room to camp, grill in the shade, go horseback riding, or hop on a boat.
The town's own riverside spot, right within Ayolas and also on the Paraná — the handiest option when there's no time to make it out to Corateí.
A small museum with pieces that surprise: archaeological objects roughly 300 years old, pre-Columbian tools from the Mbya Guaraní people, antique furniture and ethnological material gathered by the Yacyretá Binational Entity. Free admission.
